Results of Pilot of HEAL Peer Review Process

June 2005 — HEAL has concluded the pilot phase of its new peer review process, completing the review of 22 submissions — 114 resources in all. HEAL's peer review process began in January with over 100 reviewers and an innovative review form for educational multimedia, developed by a national AAMC task force. We are now evaluating the pilot and have temporarily suspended the review process until we have implemented the changes suggested by the evaluation.

To see the publications that have been accepted, you may search for the resources in the HEAL Reviewed Collection. The acceptance rate for submissions to date has been 60%, with an additional 39% accepted with changes. Only 1% of submissions have been rejected.

We will resume peer review later in the summer, starting with a hefty backlog of over 950 resources that have passed preliminary screening and are awaiting peer review. To get involved in either submitting or reviewing educational resources, please see more information on the Peer Review page or contact Editor Sebastian Uijtdehaage at submissions@healcentral.org.
